# Important Safety & Participation Guidelines
(Every Student and Parent Must Read Before Joining)
Your safety and well-being are our #1 priority. Please take a moment to review these rules and warnings.
### 1. Health & Medical Disclosure (Required)
- You **MUST** inform us of any medical conditions, injuries, allergies, asthma, or physical limitations before your first class.
- Students with concussions, recent surgeries, or contagious conditions may not train until cleared by a doctor.
### 2. Assumption of Risk
Karate is a contact martial art. While we maintain the highest safety standards, minor bumps, bruises, and muscle soreness are normal.
Rare but possible risks include:
- Sprains/strains
- Minor cuts or mat burns
- Accidental strikes during sparring (protective gear required)
By participating, you accept these inherent risks.
### 3. Mandatory Safety Rules (Zero Tolerance)
- No jewelry, watches, or hard objects in class
- Fingernails and toenails must be trimmed short
- No horseplay, bullying, or unsportsmanlike behavior
- Always follow instructor commands immediately
- No sparring without full protective gear and instructor supervision
- Report all injuries (even small ones) immediately
### 4. Parental Supervision (Children)
- Parents of children under 10 must remain in the viewing area during class
- Drop-off/pick-up must be on time – we are not a daycare
### 5. Hygiene & Cleanliness
- Clean gi and feet required every class
- No training if you have open wounds, ringworm, or any contagious skin condition
- Shoes are NEVER worn on the mat
